Design Boards are AWESOME!

Unwrinkling

Today's task is ironing (hmph).  Now, I usually love ironing when I am creating new blocks.  It's like uncovering the magic.  However, this is what I'm dealing with today:

This is what happens when you have to quickly shove a project into a shoebox container.  So, I'm ironing while I watch House of Cards on Netflix.

It will be a pretty quilt once I get all the wrinkles out and sew it!

Inspiration

Inspiration comes from many sources.  For example, I have been looking at this art piece my 6th grade son created earlier this school year which was hanging on my fridge.

Such bright happy colors!  Just looking at it makes me want to run to Dunkin Donuts.  I thought that this would make a great mug rug.  So I made one.

He is very happy with my interpretation and I still crave donuts whenever I look at it!

New Year 2015

Thinking about the new year and reflecting on all the festivities as we wind down to a quieter home. Specifically, I'm thinking about mug rugs:

I made these rugs last year for Christmas

I finished a tree skirt for my oldest daughter and had some scraps that I used.  They turned out pretty cute and these have other uses than just for a hot mug.  They are great to place under a hot plate that just came out of the microwave or to place a snack on if you don't want to dirty a plate for.  Now I need to contemplate what I will use AFTER Christmas :-)
